What's included in the installer?
The CS 1.6 game files (maps, models, sounds, the GoldSrc engine) plus a bundled Metamod / AMXX loader for server-side mods, and optional ZBots for offline play. Total size ~380 MB depending on the build.
Do I need a Steam account?
No. This is a non-Steam build. It doesn't communicate with Steam or Valve's servers at all. It talks to community-run master servers instead.
Is this legal?
Counter-Strike 1.6 has been distributed as non-Steam community builds since the early 2000s and is played by hundreds of thousands of people every day. The GoldSrc engine has been shared this way for over 20 years. If you already own CS 1.6 on Steam, you can use both — they install to separate folders.
Can I play with Steam users?
Only on servers that explicitly accept both. Most non-Steam servers run a plugin called Reunion that lets Steam clients connect. Look for servers with "reunion" or "mixed" in the name.
What's the difference between the Warzone / Russian / XTCS builds?
Same core game. Warzone is the vanilla install — closest to the classic 2003 experience. Russian has CIS-localised menus and CIS-community favorite servers pre-loaded. XTCS has enhanced graphics, custom skins, and weapon reanimations for a modernised look.
Can I install this alongside CS:GO or CS2?
Yes. It installs to a separate folder and doesn't touch your Steam installation. Both can coexist.
Will my Steam CS 1.6 stats and ranks transfer?
No. Non-Steam CS 1.6 uses a completely separate server ecosystem. Server-side stats (via AMXX plugins) are per-server, per-account. You start fresh.
How do I uninstall?
Windows → Settings → Apps → find "Warzone CS 1.6" → Uninstall. Or manually delete the install folder (default C:\WarzoneCS) and the desktop shortcut.
Can I host my own server?
Yes. The installer includes a "Create Server" option in the main menu for LAN games. For a public dedicated server, download the separate server package from warzonecs.com/downloads — it's a Linux/Windows HLDS build with the master-server registration pre-configured.
